This project features a squad of painted Plague Marines for Warhammer 40,000, completed as a high-end commission painting project. The focus of this custom painted Death Guard unit was texture, controlled weathering, and strong material contrast while keeping the models clean and readable on the tabletop.
Weathering and Battle Damage on Painted Warhammer 40,000 Plague Marines
Weathering is layered carefully across the armor. Subtle edge chipping appears on high-contact areas, while brown and dark shading in recesses enhances depth. The goal was not excessive damage, but believable wear that complements the sculpted detail.
Metallic elements such as trim, weapons, and mechanical components are painted in warm bronze and dark steel tones. These metals are shaded deeply and kept mostly matte to reinforce the aged, corroded appearance expected from painted Death Guard miniatures.
Organic Details and Mutations – High Detail Miniature Painting
Plague Marines feature numerous organic elements, including tentacles, exposed flesh, and corrupted growths. These areas are painted in richer purples, reds, and fleshy tones to contrast against the green armor.
