Gold

This custom painted Kromlech Dvergr heavy weapon specialist serves as a testament to the industrial grit and high-tech weaponry of the Dvergr Starborn. Created as a commission painting project in our premium Gold level, the goal was to produce a miniature that emphasizes metallic textures, weathered equipment, and glowing energy effects.
While these models are often used as alternatives for a Squat or Leagues of Votann army in Warhammer 40,000, this specific custom painted model focuses on the unique, bulky aesthetic of the Kromlech range.
The combination of dark, oil-stained metallics, vibrant orange ocular sensors, and a specialized industrial base makes this painted miniature a standout addition to any sci-fi collection, providing a realistic "lived-in" look that is perfect for the tabletop.

For this commission painting project, we utilized a "grimdark" inspired palette to reflect the hazardous environments these space-faring dwarves inhabit. The primary armor is finished in a desaturated, dark gunmetal, layered with subtle chipping and edge highlights to suggest hardened ceramite or steel.
This custom paint scheme avoids bright, clean colors in favor of a utilitarian aesthetic. The bulky power pack and heavy rotary cannon are the visual anchors of the piece, treated with multiple layers of metallic washes to simulate grease, soot, and the heat of continuous fire. Our miniature painting studio focused on volumetric highlights on the helmet and shoulder pads to ensure that, despite the dark tones, the silhouette remains sharp and readable during gameplay.
The inclusion of brass and copper accents on the pipework and mechanical joints adds a necessary warmth to the otherwise cold, industrial palette of this painted Kromlech warrior.
Glowing Lenses and Weathered Metallic Details
The true focal point of this custom painted model is the high-contrast "glow" effect applied to the visor and weapon sensors. The ocular lenses are painted in a fiery orange-to-yellow gradient, creating a piercing gaze that cuts through the dark metallic helmet.
The heavy weapon—a massive rotary cannon—is a masterclass in metallic weathering. The barrel features transitions from dark iron to a heat-blued tip, suggesting the physical toll of rapid-fire engagement. Small green glowing lights on the weapon’s power cell and the backpack provide a secondary color contrast, reinforcing the high-tech nature of the Dvergr technology.
By applying these spot colors strategically, our miniature painting studio ensures that the viewer’s eye is drawn to the most important parts of the model: the face and the firepower.
Industrial Basing for Sci-Fi Tabletop Cohesion
To complete this painted miniatures project, we designed a custom industrial base that fits the aesthetic of a derelict space hulk or a subterranean mining facility.
The base features a diamond-plate metal floor texture, heavily weathered with rust streaks and oil spills. This custom basing style is essential for maintaining the narrative of the model—a heavy weapon specialist holding a corridor or defending a technical objective. The dark, grimy floor provides a neutral foundation that allows the glowing orange eyes and metallic highlights of the Dvergr to pop.
In a full commission painted army, having this level of detail on the bases ensures that every unit feels like it belongs to the same environment, enhancing the overall immersion of your Warhammer 40K or sci-fi skirmish games.
Custom Painted Kromlech Dvergr for Sci-Fi Wargaming
Whether you are using these as proxies for a Leagues of Votann force or as part of a dedicated Dvergr Starborn army, our Gold level commission painting brings out the best in these characterful Kromlech sculpts.
The mix of heavy weathering, realistic metallics, and vibrant OSL (Object Source Lighting) creates a miniature that looks just as good in a display case as it does on the battlefield. This custom paint scheme was designed for collectors who value a gritty, realistic aesthetic over high-fantasy brightness.
