Painted StarCraft Terran Starter Set
24 July 2026Mortarion, the Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard, is a figure of tragic transformation. Originally a rebel leader who valued endurance, he resented the Emperor for usurping his victory. During the Horus Heresy, his Legion was trapped in the Warp by a supernatural plague. To save his sons from eternal suffering, he surrendered to Nurgle, becoming a skeletal, moth-winged avatar of decay who now tirelessly spreads entropy as a reminder that all strength eventually rots.

A weathered Death Guard masterpiece defined by decayed bone armour, diseased wings, and toxic green effects.
This project features Mortarion, Daemon Primarch of Nurgle from Warhammer 40,000, painted as a dramatic Death Guard centerpiece miniature.
The custom paint scheme focuses on heavy weathering and atmospheric decay. The armor is finished in a dirty bone tone with layered chipping, grime, and subtle green corrosion effects. Bronze trim is shaded deeply to enhance contrast and reinforce the aged, corroded look.
The wings are a standout element, painted in dark tones with turquoise and yellow mottling to create a diseased, organic texture. Edge damage and perforations are emphasized for realism rather than hidden.
Deep purple robes transition smoothly into toxic green at the lower edges, visually connecting the model to the scenic base. Gloss-finished slime and bright green effects add contrast against the predominantly matte armor and fabric.
The display base features broken stone and pools of yellow-green sludge, supporting the model’s imposing stance and enhancing its presence as a premium commission-painted Warhammer miniature.
This painted Mortarion demonstrates high-end commission painting with controlled weathering, strong color contrast, and carefully balanced finishes for a striking Death Guard centerpiece.

Mortarion – Daemon Primarch of Nurgle Featuring Custom Toxic Swamp Basing
Mortarion’s base is designed as a toxic, corrupted battlefield that reinforces his Death Guard theme. Elevated rocky slabs in cold grey tones create height and structure, while glossy green and yellow slime effects spread between the stones to give the ground a wet, infected appearance.
Integrated Nurglings and organic rot details add narrative and movement without distracting from the main model. The contrast between matte stone and high-gloss sludge enhances depth, resulting in a cohesive scenic base that supports the miniature and elevates it to a display-quality commission standard.
