Watch out on your cold, winter hikes. Terrible tales are spun around campfires about those lost in the deadly cold of the mountain winter, forced by hunger and pain to hunt down their own comrades and former friends for their meat and the warmth of their blood. There is no salvation for these cursed souls, because the horrors they indulge in cannot save them and they become things neither dead nor alive, condemned to an eternity of empty hunger and terrible isolation.

Jealousy, desperation and malice force these triple-damned beings to remain beyond death, and the most insidious and destructive winds of magic coil around them to warp and twist their bodies to inhuman proportions. Soon they become something that is neither spirit nor revenant – a Mourngul; a monstrous, razor-thin shadow of cold flesh and cracked bone, with a gaping maw of needle-like teeth and a cavernous stomach that hangs open like a terrible wound.
