Exquisite Painted Ragnar Blackmane – Heroic Space Wolves Custom Commission
11 June 2026
Forged in Red and Steel – Warhammer 40K Adeptus Mechanicus Masterpiece
11 June 2026This painted Morbidex Twiceborn from Warhammer Age of Sigmar was completed as a high-end commission painting project for a Maggotkin of Nurgle army. The goal of this custom paint scheme was to emphasize the grotesque organic textures of the model while maintaining a realistic, controlled finish suitable for both display and tabletop play.
Morbidex Twiceborn is a large, character-driven centerpiece model, and the painting approach focused heavily on skin transitions, disease effects, and naturalistic basing to create a cohesive and immersive result.
Custom Paint Scheme Morbidex Twiceborn – Diseased Flesh and Toxic Effects
The dominant feature of this custom painted Morbidex Twiceborn is the layered, unhealthy flesh of the mount. The skin transitions from pale grey tones into bruised purples and sickly pinks, creating depth across the musculature and swollen surfaces. Subtle glazing was used to blend these tones smoothly, enhancing the organic realism of the sculpt.
Green pustules and inflamed sores are picked out individually to create variation across the body. Gloss effects are selectively applied to areas of infection and slime, contrasting with the otherwise matte skin finish. This balance prevents the model from appearing overly shiny while still delivering convincing disease effects.
The toxic stream projecting from the creature’s mouth is painted in vivid green tones with gradual highlights toward the outer edges, creating a luminous, contaminated appearance that immediately draws attention without overpowering the rest of the composition.
Painted Maggotkin of Nurgle Character – Rider and Details
Morbidex Twiceborn himself is painted in muted, earthy tones that complement the mount without competing for focus. The hooded robes feature deep red and brown hues with natural shading and subtle edge highlights. Metallic elements on the weapon are weathered and toned down to match the grim, corrupted aesthetic of the Maggotkin of Nurgle army.
Fine details such as bells, straps, textures, and organic growths are clearly defined to maintain readability at tabletop distance while rewarding close inspection in photography. The overall finish remains controlled and cohesive, reinforcing the premium standard expected from a professional miniature painting studio.
Basing for Painted Morbidex Twiceborn – Diseased Groundwork
The base supports the model with natural earth tones, scattered skulls, patches of grass, and pools of toxic green slime. These elements tie visually into the creature’s infected flesh and the green vomit effect, creating a unified narrative without relying on excessive decoration.
The clean black rim frames the scene and ensures the model integrates seamlessly into a larger Maggotkin of Nurgle army.
