Custom Painted Blood Angels Terminators – Warhammer 40,000 Commission Painting Showcase
3 June 2026This commission project features both armies from the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Skaventide — the noble Stormcast Eternals and the relentless Skaven. The goal of the painting was to create two visually distinct forces that clearly contrast each other on the tabletop while still feeling part of the same battlefield. Bright heroic armor and divine symbols define the Stormcast army, while the Skaven horde focuses on darker tones, worn equipment, and chaotic energy.
Painted Stormcast Eternals – Celestial Warriors of Sigmar
The Stormcast Eternals miniatures are painted with a classic heroic palette of polished silver armor, deep blue cloth, and rich gold trim. These colors emphasize the divine nature of Sigmar’s warriors and help the models stand out clearly during gameplay. Bright highlights across the armor plates give the miniatures a strong metallic finish, while the blue elements add depth and contrast across the unit formations.
Several heroes and elite warriors within the army feature additional visual details such as glowing weapons, ornate cloaks, and stronger edge highlights. These elements help distinguish character miniatures from the rank-and-file troops while maintaining the overall aesthetic of the Stormcast force.
Winged Warriors and Stormcast Characters
Among the Stormcast forces are several dramatic miniatures including winged warriors and mounted heroes. The winged fighters feature bright feather tones and luminous highlights that reinforce the celestial theme of the army. Their dynamic poses suggest warriors descending from the sky in the middle of battle.
A large mounted Stormcast hero riding a gryph-like creature acts as a visual centerpiece of the army. The armor on the rider is painted with sharper reflections and stronger highlights to emphasize the character’s importance, while the mount itself is painted with layered natural tones that contrast with the metallic armor.
Painted Skaven Army – The Skaventide Horde
Opposing the Stormcast forces is a massive swarm of Skaven, painted to emphasize their chaotic and relentless nature. These rat-like warriors are shown in large numbers, creating the impression of an unstoppable tide of bodies rushing across the battlefield.
The Skaven miniatures feature dirty cloth tones, dark armor pieces, and worn metallic weapons. The overall color palette focuses on earthy browns, rusted metals, and muted fabrics that reinforce the underground and scavenged nature of the faction. Subtle highlights bring out the sculpted fur textures and facial details, ensuring each miniature remains visible despite the darker color scheme.
Skaven War Machines and Monstrous Creatures
Within the Skaven army are larger miniatures and mechanical constructs that act as focal points for the horde. These models include strange war machines and mutated creatures that showcase the twisted technological style associated with the Skaven.
Metallic elements on these miniatures feature darker steel tones combined with rust effects and worn edges. This approach helps convey the unstable, dangerous nature of Skaven engineering while keeping the models visually consistent with the rest of the army.
Cohesive Basing and Battlefield Atmosphere
Both armies share a consistent basing style designed to represent a war-torn battlefield. Neutral earth tones, scattered stones, and subtle texture effects create a grounded environment for the miniatures. This approach keeps the focus on the painted models while visually connecting all units across both factions.
The contrast between the shining Stormcast armor and the darker Skaven horde becomes even more dramatic when the armies are displayed together on the
Skaventide Commission Painting for Age of Sigmar

The combination of heroic Stormcast Eternals and the chaotic Skaven horde creates a powerful visual clash between order and corruption.
With detailed painting, strong contrasts, and carefully unified basing, the finished miniatures form two armies ready for battle in the Mortal Realms of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
